The BEST Place to go to at the start - The Fertile Lands | The Forest

1042 ratings | 34540 views
This video shows you an all in one safe spot where you can get almost everything you need at the start. I named it 'The Fertile Lands' as the name suggests, it is very fertile. Lots of life and food. I do not guarantee 100% that you will find everything there every time you go there. The game selects it at random. Though due to the the area being relatively flat with little amount of obstructions, you will be likely to find lots of stuff. I try to release videos daily for The Forest. My focus is give the information you need as quick as possible so you can get back to playing. Subscribe to see these videos daily. I have Twitter and Imgur Twitter: https://twitter.com/Farket_Forest?lang=en Imgur: https://farket8238.imgur.com/ I use Imgur to post some of the pictures from my videos, you may find this helpful. I often use https://theforestmap.com/ for my videos. Check it out, it's amazing. All thumbnails, photo shopping, video editing, and logo were designed/completed by me.

This guide is Bang on mate. Love the accent too :-)

I built a base here and it took till the 74th day till cannibals came. Not really cannibals though, just two Virginias.

Holy crap Farket.
trigsim (1 month ago)
Me and a friend also found a lot of Aloe on the beach of the cockpit lake by the fertile lands when we had been searching for a while.
YllStar Fans (1 month ago)
How we can go there because I don't no where is this places
YllStar Fans (1 month ago)
Farket Thanks Man
Farket (1 month ago)
Follow the river down. Or head east
Ausama albarzangi (2 months ago)
actually ive been using that place as my base for quite some time now.. and ive only been attacked once or twice by a single cannibal ... i dont use any traps what so ever and i never saw any patrol passing by my base , btw my base is exactly next to their huts
Me and a friend built here with a zipline both ways across the river for easy logs. We have been in this location for 55+ days and we have only come across mutants in the small cannibal camp area. But MANY cannibals on the other side. Also just down the river is a good spot for bone farming arrows and the flare gun. Definitely a good spot for begginers.
Farket (2 months ago)
Thats a good idea. Yeah it is a good spot for beginners. Cheers
Oliver Cane (2 months ago)
Are there any Aloe Vera fields?
Farket (2 months ago)
Not particular. Scattered spots. Good chance you’ll find it here.
Player8Gaming (2 months ago)
There is just not enough sticks in this area lool
Dahni Uru (2 months ago)
I agree. I build a houseboat and a raft for the area and also use the cockpit as a totally safe site. I built a hanging base platform against the cliff and stay on it even when the BigUglies ran around under it trying to bring it down. Lizards, Rabbits and Fish everywhere. Meds all along the field. 3 nearby caves provide lots of supplies. The only totally safe places, though, are on the houseboat and on cockpit island.

That house is huge!

How do you GET there and how do you know where the fuck you are, when you start? This game makes zero sense.
Syvelocin (3 months ago)
You play the game and learn the map. If you want to spoil the fun, pull up the online map if you're that frustrated.
Eric Markiewicz (3 months ago)
The cliff to the right is much safer than this area. Haven't been attacked once in 40 days
Richard (3 months ago)
I actually started a camp just beneath the cliff of the small cannibal camp right next to a pond, the best base I've ever made
DavidAkhter (3 months ago)
I actually naturall found the spot and its great
Farket (3 months ago)
It is great aye
Paul Espino (3 months ago)
Liked and subscribed! Another awesome video! Thanks Farket!
Rockoll (4 months ago)
I built there are it has been very good for playing with friends. Occasionally we would be attacked by some guys but never any grey cannibals. The only time it started to go downhill is when they used dynamite to chop trees at a fast rate.
Xenovista (5 months ago)
Damn you good with the bow. I set up a little hunting camp there myself.
Verta Gaming (5 months ago)
Farket have you ever tried blocking both ends of the patrol path with a defensive wall?
Verta Gaming (4 months ago)
Oh ok. Thanks for the help
Farket (5 months ago)
No, but it would work to some degree. Somes they will spawn in your base regardless.
FaZewolf09 (5 months ago)
How do you zoom out please respond cuz I don’t know how and I don’t know how to get there
Farket (5 months ago)
+FaZewolf09 using mods. Go to the forest map, it should help. It’s near the main cannibal village. Get the compass, it can help.
Sam Conran (5 months ago)
A friend and I have just built our base on the top of the hill overlooking the river & fertile lands. It's awesome—really easy to get the supplies we need during the early game.
Farket (5 months ago)
+Sam Conran Yeah its a good spot up there, nice and clear

I looked for gameplay yesterday couldn't handle listening to any other person. Then i find Farket lol i click play and hear you talk and immediately am in fits lol i love the name xD had me going for a while. Now i go to bed and watch lol i think im really just listening and fall asleep your voice is rather soothing haha. I love that your videos are super helpful and always straight to the point. I hated this game, only coz i was scared of the cannibals lol a friend was a troll and told me they would put it on in peaceful mode and i got smashed by 5 ugly cannibals which lead to me, jumping out of my chair and leaving my game play itself lol my friend scarred me for life xD. Now im excited to play after watching your videos and im glad i subscribed keep up the good work :)
Jupiter Indiges (5 months ago)
I build at the camp, at the same area, haven't had a problem just don't cut too may trees and build rock walls for defense. Started a Hard Survival game recently and have gone 12 days straight without being attacked by cannibals at my makeshift base.
Farket (5 months ago)
Its a great place aye. The only issue is sticks and logs, apart from that, its really safe.
AlpsTacticalYT (5 months ago)
Is this place safe to build a base without a high risk of being attacked?
AlpsTacticalYT (5 months ago)
Farket Thanks, I just got on a few hours ago and have been erecting a pretty nice base...
Farket (5 months ago)
+AlpsTacticalYT Ive had quite a few people say it is. I have built there and its safe. There a no patrol routes there and it areas can be blocked off. Its very safe.
Deus Vult (6 months ago)
Okay I've actually built quite a base there but I never get attacked and I tested it out on 3 different saves and never do I get attacked, on one save when I went there after getting the weapons I usually get 2 cannibals where there and after that not a single one and I got to day 25 without a single attack.
Deus Vult (5 months ago)
Farket shame they don't go there at all i would mind someb ones once in a while. Guess i need to make an outpost on the patrol routes :/
Farket (5 months ago)
+Kacper Wojtysiak Its a good spot aye. Cannibals dont patrol there is the reason. Because they dont patrol, you dont kill as many which in turn keeps hostilities down with the cannibals
Royce Sarmiento (6 months ago)
you definitely deserve more subscribers. keep it up!!!

Bloody Harvest (6 months ago)
Havent seen a single cannibal in this area fter 25 days. It's kinda insane.
Bloody Harvest (6 months ago)
At 40 days now, still no sign of anything hostile in the area.
Farket (6 months ago)
+Bloody Harvest wow, that's a good effort. I've heard similar stories as well
Jaesung (6 months ago)
Another interesting thing to note about this location is that there's a bucket of red paint there. Just run along the mountain wall that separates the high ground from the low ground.
Farket (6 months ago)
+The Ministry Of Public Affairs, And Social Harmony Yeah, its definitely a good spot.
Kind Kyttocks (7 months ago)
Another excellent vid from the King of the Forest. Took his advice and built a on the fertile lands and everything he says is true. The place is surrounded by water which the cannibals are not keen to cross. At the back are high cliffs which also offer protection. Loads of food and resources. Be aware if you build a bridge to farm logs and sticks then the cannibals can cross your bridge and bug you. I opted for a zip wire service to ferry logs across.
Farket (7 months ago)
+Kind Kyttocks Nice work, glad the spots worked for you. Thats a good idea with the zip line. The bridge was always a problem, cannibals love crossing your bridges.
Neruru Mello (7 months ago)
My friend and I have been settling there for more than 10days and no attacks from cannibals which is a very good start indeed. Thanks for the tip!!
James Russell (7 months ago)
Great video, will try starting here next play-through. Thanks Farket :) Love your videos man - practical, helpful, informative and explained very clearly - plus a few lols along the way!
Matt Hurlburt (7 months ago)
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, why are there groups of 8+ kicking the shit out of my house here!??? im on the top of that hill where you are at the start of the video and i can not stop them for destroying everything at at once? why is that? i know they are on the beach behind the hill but they have never bothered me until last night and i have lost just about everything. @farket ANY ideas at why? i love this place but not there there is 8 or more all at once! thanks m8
Farket (7 months ago)
+Matt Hurlburt Cannibals love going up there. I believe its one of their patrol routes too. I recommend you block off the patrols routes with rock wall. Or you can try building dead fall traps in front of your walls. Look up my video about bone harvesting. If they wont stop attacking, I recommend you leave the area for a few days then come back. That works. I usually make noise on the other side of the island.
Matt Hurlburt (7 months ago)
i also have another place across the map but still same thing.
Catswork (7 months ago)
Another great place to live is that pond on the cliff next to the sinkhole. It has berry bushes, a small cannibal village with two rope, the pond has fish, it's next to the katana cave, it barely gets patrolled even though it's literally right next to an enemy camp, and it has lots of building combinations, using the giant tree nearby, not to mention the plane crashes there.
Farket (7 months ago)
+Catswork Yeah that is a good spot. Its in the centre of the map too so its relatively close to everything. Its short on sticks unfortunately. But like you said it has a lot of benefits. I am fond of building near see at the moment. Boats are too useful.
Axis (7 months ago)
Thanks for the info, great stuff to know. That house looks interesting. Do you have a walk-through video of it?
Farket (7 months ago)
+Stereo Studios Cheers. I lost all my saves unfortunately. Opening an older version of the forest deleted all my saves.
Nadz Syahirah (8 months ago)
I have to give you a big thanks for giving out a very informative guide about this game as I've only started playing for about a week already, your videos helped me and surely others as well. You've earned my likes and subscription :) big thumbs up, keep it up! Ps, tho the 1st time I watched your video required using headphones because of your asmr like voice lol.

Good luck farket ur channel really help hope can play together with u
Farket (8 months ago)
+Vexpher Cheers, glad to be of help. Soon I should be able too. I am setting up a server.
CrizzBizz (8 months ago)
I plan on testing this myself soon but I figured i'd ask in case you already did it. I found another YouTube video, with lastest 0.64 version of the forest where the person started a fresh playthrough and made the Cannibals passive. The cannibals attacked the first few days, the player never killing one in return, they started leaving the character alone more and more. Like is mentioned above I will be trying it out and I may even record it myself, but may be a good future video for your channel?
Farket (8 months ago)
This can be done, though the passiveness doesn't last forever. If you build too much or cut down too many trees then this will make them more hostile. Though that is right, don't attack them and they'll be easier on you for awhile. If you do the testing, please let me know how you go, I might be able to make the video for you and reference you for the testing done. If you make the video let me know, I would love to check it out. Cheers

Quin Balsan (8 months ago)
I some video ideas. you could make a ''top x places to live'' or you could make a video about what kind of base is the E.G.:  base on water vs base on land vs base on Island.
Farket (8 months ago)
Cheers. Top places to live will come eventually. I need to sort the patrol routes. The best places to live is completely different for everyone. Some people want a peaceful game, some want to fight non stop, others want in between. I am going to make a few videos to cater for everyone. Thanks for the feedback :)

Ehy Farket in the Forest there are some vongole, you can fuond they near the see or give whit the mod
Farket (8 months ago)
Hey Simone, sorry I don't understand what you mean?
Alex Armsy (8 months ago)
Dude. At the beginning of a new game, NEVER build there. It's my favorite location indeed, but after surviving for 30 days there I only had a cannibal sneaking up on me. I built about 8 bonfires and I didn't had a SINGLE cannibal, and literally the mutants haven't come outside but the crosses and masks did. I usually use that as an Endgame location more around day 50, mainly because you need to little resort right? Anyways, nice video, hehe
Alex Armsy (8 months ago)
Quin Balsan Hey there, your comment didn't show up in my notifications :P
Alex Armsy (8 months ago)
Farket Welp when I was traveling to this so called Fertile Lands I went the water way, in that I mean that I was swimming in the ocean all the way to that place. When I was in the middle of the travel I heard a few mutants up the cliff. When I reached that place those mutants were just waiting me right where I wanted to build. I killed the 2 mutants and there was a damn sneaky cannibal spying me on the cliff. Then he ran off right when I saw him. I built, then I built and built. In that time tons of mutants were passing by my house, Armsies looking at it, Virginias trying to bash it down and Cowman wasn't giving a shit. When the update came out the area magically cooled down. Silence AF. This all happened in 0.53 when 0.54 came out I was damn happy.
Farket (8 months ago)
Strange. There's apparently a hostile meter that the cannibals have towards you. You will get attack more and more the angrier they are at you. Its said to go up the more you attack them, the more you build, and the more trees you cut down. Could any of this caused it? Also did any of them see you move to that area? I have a feeling if they see you, that makes things worse. Cheers
Alex Armsy (8 months ago)
Farket I did after I died against more than 14 mutants at the land bridge. I killed most of those mutants and all the sudden a Potato charge's at me. Then, I went in this place and I built and I had mutants everyday, passing by. Also, there's a bucket of red paint too around there. Close to the cliff facing the cannibal camp.
Farket (8 months ago)
Have you had trouble building there? I've haven't had trouble yet and I have built there way too many times lol. It's a good resort location thats for sure. Cheers
Xavier Winters (8 months ago)
I've been staying here for the past few days and it's been helpful for farming lizard skins! That's why I call it lizard lake!
Farket (8 months ago)
Haha Lizard Lake is probably more catchy than my name! It is good for lizards aye. Yeah building anywhere for too long will eventually have them coming for you. No where is safe permanently except on islands and water.
Xavier Winters (8 months ago)
Also once again another great video! However past few sessions I've noticed an increase in mutants (the one that gives Birth and has giant arms) I've had to kite 4 into the water and shoot them to death so far!
Very Understandable (8 months ago)
Weird on my single player world whenever I cross through that place there is almost always a mutant patrol
NikoMiko FurryDragon (5 months ago)
Ur screwd
Very Understandable (8 months ago)
No I built my base on the largest island in the game and I always cross through the fertile lands to go for deer skin and such
Farket (8 months ago)
Do you have buildings there or do you spend a lot of time there? Their standard patrol routes don't come through there. If you build on the other side of the river they can come there some times.
A Potent Magic (8 months ago)
I've noticed the same thing, and like you call it "the fertile lands", I thought of it as "the garden". It's weirdly sheltered and feels entirely different from anywhere else on the map.
A Potent Magic (8 months ago)
Probably that's how real places got their names, way way back in the past. Funny to relive that, even in a game.
Farket (8 months ago)
+A Potent Magic That's a good name too. Resembles life and growing in a way. I often come up with names for the places, makes it easier to remember.
Mass8 Duck (8 months ago)
Love your vids, keep it up!
Farket (8 months ago)
+Mass8 Duck Cheers
Shadic (8 months ago)
My base is actually near this, but never wanted to explore the area because of my friend being scared of crocs. Great vid nevertheless
Shadic (8 months ago)
Ah ok, i'll show him this vid to try to convince him
Farket (8 months ago)
+Shadic There's no crocodiles around there. They are further up the river by quite a bit. I can understand the fear though. They are quite intimidating and scary.
Quin Balsan (8 months ago)
could you make a video about armor? btw helpfull video thx
Quin Balsan (8 months ago)
ok no problem. I will wait until you release the video. I just thought that i could give an idea for  a video.
Farket (8 months ago)
+Quin Balsan I had started but I hit a snag with the stealth armor. It doesn't tell you how much stealth it gives. Also I keep having issues with block and armor. Blocking with armor sometimes negates all damage, sometimes it doesn't negate anything. I dont want to put misinformation out there so I want to make sure its as accurate as possible before releasing.
Ludwig Van Beethoven (8 months ago)
This channel is better than most youtubers nowadays. Don't change what you're doing cuz it's great
Farket (8 months ago)
+Criken is my dad Cheers, glad to be of help. I think the focus on lets plays have taken over most of the The Forest videos out there rather than tutorials.
